[Grand Plastic Surgery] What can I expect after rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is a procedure that doesn’t require hospitalization, so the patients are usually released after a few hours of rest after the surgery. Usually, patients don’t feel much pain after the procedure but say it’s discomforting because the nose is packed with gauze that helps minimize the swelling and bruising for a few days. There will also be a nasal splint on the nose, which is removed after 7 days after the surgery with the stitches. Patients experience max swelling after 1-2 days after the surgery, and it gradually goes down from the 3rd day. By the time the nasal splint is removed on the 7th day, most of the major swelling should be already gone, but it can take up to 2 weeks depending on the individual. Bruising usually appears when the procedure involves bone shaving or fracturing and can spread around the eyes, slowly moving down as time passes. Bruising also subsides within 3-4 weeks. Going back to daily activity is technically OK after a few days after the surgery, but because of the splint, people feel more comfortable meeting people and going back to work after 1-week post-surgery. Although the nose looks completely normal after the recovery, minor swelling exists for a few months, so the patient will experience the nose becoming refined over the following months. We say it takes up to 6 months to see the final outcome.
