[Grand Plastic Surgery] Healing process of Rhinoplasty!

 

One of the most asked questions from patients that are planning to get rhinoplasty is how long it takes to heal!

You may think that it would take a long time to become natural, but the actual downtime is not as long as you think!

Right after the surgery, your nose will be covered with bandages and splint.
Also, the nostrils are covered with gauze.
The swelling or bruising is not too severe during the first day.

Starting the next day, swelling and bruising gets more severe and will be at the maximum state around 3-4 days.

After 3-4 days, that is when it will start to subside.
During that first 3-4 days, using ice pack is the most helpful.

It is important to place the ice on the eyes, not directly on the nose pressuring the surgical area.

As the swelling subsides, it will travel downwards making your cheeks look chubby as well.

Also, the color of the bruises tend to change as well during the healing process.
It may start out as reddish bruises changing bluish or greenish color to yellow and return to the original skin color.

The stitches on the outside that are visible, are removed after 1 week from the surgery day and the remaining stitches inside the nostril are removed after 2 weeks.

As you can see in the pictures above, the condition does not look to unnatural even after a week!
Since the stitches are gone by then as well, returning to the original daily routine will be possible. Just harsh physical activities must be avoided.
